Mary Chambers could laugh, and when she did you knew the world around her was a great place to be.  Why Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl" has been a memory trigger for this lady; you'll have to find out elsewhere in the lyrics, because although her eyes were beautiful, "Brown" was not their colour.   Standing only a few feet away from where our son was conceived; time, distance and life would take its toll.

Mary would later become one of the leading pediatric nurses in Eastern Ontario and would come to regret accepting my proposal.   My only regret was that I was "Too soon old, too late smart"  for unbelievable as this might sound; there was a time I almost qualified as a jerk.

What I miss most about her most is the smell of her hair.  When you held her there was a sense that everything in the world was OK, sort of like when you see and hear an old Douglas DC-3 fly over head, and you say to yourself "That's it baby, just keep on  flying."  Don't ask, I have no idea.  It might be their solidity, dependability, still carrying life after all they done over the last 50+ years, whatever.

For a time the world with Mary just seemed right.

While a lot was lost with this lady, two wonderful and exciting children were brought into this world and after all the betrayal they had to go through, they have turned out just fine.  ...and hey, what's the use of getting old if you can't bring out pictures of your grandkids, I ask you?  As if anyone should doubt Providence the bright young lady in the hat is truly a beautiful little "Brown Eyed Girl."
